The Institute for Creative Mindfulness is an educational organization guided by the principles of phenomenology (the study of individual lived experience) and qualitative inquiry. Founded by Dr. Jamie Marich, we offer training in the areas of mental health, trauma, addiction, mindfulness, and clinician development. The person-centered values and trauma-informed characteristics of flexibility and safety are central to our mindful approach to education. In addition to EMDRIA-Approved training programs in EMDR Therapy and a Certificate Program in Expressive Arts Therapy, the Institute also offers certification programs in Dancing Mindfulness and the Yoga Unchained approach to trauma-informed yoga. We also guide individuals in pursing EMDRIA-Approved credentials as a Certified EMDR Therapist or Approved Consultant.
Assuring the Safety of Those We ServeWe believe this is best practiced through honoring the person-centered values of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence; and respecting qualitative approaches like flexibility, openness to context, and honoring individual, lived experience as the guiding principles for services. |
No Two Clients are the SameWe recognize that no two clients respond to treatment or education in the same way and we carry this value into the way that we train and assure the formation of professionals seeking our services. |
Evidence-Based PracticeAs stated by the American Psychological Association (2006), context, clinical experience, and client preference are major components of evidence-based practice. Many facets of training for helping professions emphasize only empirical or quantitative elements. We aim to give the other elements the primary attention that is lacking in many dimensions of the helping professions. |
