Biography

Dr. Danielle Dekker is an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant in private practice in Oakland, California.

Danielle approaches EMDR therapy as a comprehensive psychotherapy and her primary theoretical orientation. With over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, she brings a depth of clinical perspective to consultation, particularly for clinicians working with clients whose histories include complex trauma and attachment-related patterns.

She holds a Ph.D. in Complementary and Integrative Health with a concentration in Transpersonal Psychology. Her doctoral research consisted of a qualitative study examining the lived experience of trauma resolution in EMDR therapy. In her consultation work, Danielle emphasizes effective preparation and case conceptualization that support efficient and successful EMDR therapy reprocessing, drawing on attachment-based and nervous system–informed perspectives, including polyvagal theory, ego state interventions, DBT-informed skills, and mindfulness-based practices.
