🌻 ABOUT ME

I’m Mia. I identify as as a person, survivor, healer, advocate, friend, creative, quirky, nerd, multiply neurodivergent (AuDHD, dyslexic, dyscalculic, dysgraphic), Black, Caribbean, Taíno, BIPOC, Multi-racial, Dynamically Disabled, Queer, Demi/ACE-spec, Fem, Activist, an Empath, Spiritual, “every age I’ve ever been,” and a tender chaos fairy who has walked through systems and stories much like the ones we name and unlearn together. I come to this work as someone who has also been shaped, stretched, and softened by it all. I’m a fellow traveler, listener, and learner, not a detached guide or judge.

I bring lived experience through many intersections and liberation-based practice into healing spaces with deep reverence. I hold space not from above, but within, tenderly, energetically, imperfectly, and with deep care for our shared humanness and collective healing.

I became a therapist to address the need for culturally-specific, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, healing justice-centered offerings of healing that promote strengths, unity, validation, and hope for folks who identify with the lived experiences and identity intersections of African American from the African Diaspora, Caribbean-American from the Caribbean Diaspora, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), Multi-cultural/ethnic, Neurodivergent, Autistic, AuDHD, ADHD, PDA, high masking, sensitive, high achieving, burnt out, complex trauma/ C-PTSD, disabled, dynamically disabled, chronically ill, in chronic pain, EDS, Dysautonomia, quirky, creative, spiritual, LGBTQIA2S+, and from traditionally multiply-marginalized, global majority and systemically impacted communities and active allies.

✨ Neuropsychotherapist( NPT-C), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT-200), an Autism Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), Neurodiversity-affirming EMDR specialist, Somatic therapist, KAP & Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider, Certified Mental Health & Nutrition Clinical Specialist (CMNCS), Certified Mindfulness-Informed Professional (CMIP), supervisor for CA MFTs

🌻 Intentional Practice

Due to systemic oppression, residuals of ancestral/ generational trauma, colonization,  and  neurodivergent, disabled, African American, Caribbean-American, and BIPOC communities being under and inappropriately served, I am intentional in offering services through an integrative, individualized, culturally conscious, liberation-oriented, neuro-affirming, trauma-Informed, nervous system-centered, and Decolonization lens to multiply marginalized, systemically impacted folks and allies who are navigating misaligned spaces and might feel more comfortable or safer working with someone who has similar cultural and lived experiences and shared values.

By virtue of holding space for you to make meaning out of your experiences, intersections of identity, and personal and ancestral past, I specialize in providing Culturally Conscious, Liberation-Oriented, Neuro-affirming, Trauma-Informed, Nervous System-Centered, and Social Justice-Aligned offerings of healing that align with your desire to unify mind, body, and spirit, healing both present and intergenerational wounds,  and connecting with self, others, and surroundings.

In both my practice and lived experience, I acknowledge that people from various racial, geographic, linguistic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds have different lived experiences, unique cultural strengths, and resiliency factors, in addition to facing varying types of adversity, discrimination and prejudice, particularly when it comes to historical and current systemic oppression, dimensions of power and privilege, and access to appropriate and respectful medical and mental health care, education, housing, resources, and assistance.  I am mindful  in my efforts to not diminish individual or multiple experiences and intersections of identities, and to not perpetuate the historical minimization of the voices of those who need and deserve to be heard.

In keeping these culturally and intersectionally- inclusive practices in mind I offer a path towards hope by providing a space for healing, validation, empowerment, and peace. I am intentional in meeting you where you are in your path and process towards progress in creating the life that invites wholeness, safety, and embodied truth. I integrate expressive and cultural practices, including use of various art medium, modes of story-telling, and humor to help you process experiences and find restorative peace and joy.
